See how different the histograms of different samples from the same population can be.

Try this for a normal distribution - for small samples, medium-sized samples, and large samples. What do you see?

At the top of the applet,

• Choose the shape of the population distribution
• Choose the sample size you want.

You will see the histograms of the data from 20 random samples of that size from that population.

Different choices:

• Look at the end of applet page to see how to specify a different sample size from the given choices.
• Look at the end of the applet page to see how to specify a different number of bins for the histograms. (Some choices of sample size and number of bins will produce unsatisfactory graphs.)
